OCIA - Adapted for Youth

St. Mary Catholic Central offers the Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA), adapted for youth, each school year. This program is designed for students who are interested in learning more about the Catholic faith or discerning the possibility of becoming Catholic.

Participation in OCIA is not a commitment. Rather, it is an opportunity for students to explore, ask questions, pray, and reflect on where God may be calling them on their faith journey.

OCIA is led by a dedicated team of faith leaders, including:

  • Deacon Mike Stewart, longtime leader within the Monroe Catholic community
  • Señora Memije-Gutierrez, SMCC teacher and student faith mentor
  • Mr. Tim Maag, former SMCC Campus Minister

Sessions begin in October and take place during school Masses, select prayer services, and some lunch periods throughout the year.

Through OCIA, SMCC provides a guided and supportive process for students as they explore the Catholic faith and discern their next steps toward full initiation into the Catholic Church.
