About SMCC
Mission
The mission of St. Mary Catholic Central High School is to help form the next generation of disciples, scholars, and servant-leaders.
Vision
Building on the charism of our founders, St. Mary Catholic Central High School is a Christ-centered learning community committed to forming lives in a tradition of faithfulness to the Gospel, providing educational excellence for all students regardless of their academic or economic background, and instilling service to others as a habit of the heart.
St. Mary Catholic Central High School serves the people of the Roman Catholic Vicariate of Monroe and surrounding communities. SMCC endeavors to collaborate with parents who seek a faith-based teaching and learning environment for their sons and daughters. SMCC offers an outstanding Catholic secondary educational experience to a student body with diverse learning abilities from families representing a broad cross-section of economic backgrounds.
Philosophy
St. Mary Catholic Central is a fully accredited (Cognia) Catholic secondary educational institution sponsored by the Monroe Vicariate and the Archdiocese of Detroit.
SMCC offers students a challenging, comprehensive, multi-leveled college preparatory program that forms each student spiritually, academically, physically, and socially for a full, loving, and Gospel-centered adult life. Since 1846, SMCC has provided its families with an educational experience that is second to none, where faith is evident, learning is valued, and service becomes a habit of the heart.
St. Mary Catholic Central teaches Roman Catholic theology in a manner that enables its students to understand, embody, and share the teachings of Jesus Christ. It does so in the hope that they learn how to live out the Gospel mandates in an ever-changing global society through a life committed to prayer, discipleship, and service.
Goals
SMCC seeks to create and sustain a Catholic community, one grounded in the charism of the IHM Sisters and the Brothers of Holy Cross, which strives to challenge all students to live a Christian life and to, in turn, evangelize the world by their words and deeds.
Offer an academically comprehensive teaching and learning environment for students, one where they are called to master fundamental skills and develop scholarly critical tools for use in their personal and professional lives.
Empower students to realize their role within our democracy is to be engaged, responsive, and compassionate citizens called to bear witness to their faith in our society.
Develop an extracurricular and social activities program that allows students to develop a sense of self-discipline, success, and social etiquette while appreciating the Catholic belief that we are called to live in communion with others.
Provide an athletic program that enables students to realize their full potential, recognizing that physical growth is directly associated with spiritual and emotional development.
