In keeping with the strong tradition of St. Mary Academy and Monroe Catholic Central and the present day commitment to a music program rooted in Christian values, educational excellence, and community service, the Saint Mary Catholic Central Music Boosters support and advance the SMCC Music Program. Providing moral and financial support, they strive to cultivate a culture which nurtures and instills an appreciation of music through parent, student and community volunteerism.
Utilizing a recently updated rubric, the boosters recognize and award those students who mirror similar values by providing the opportunity to earn a Varsity letter through participation in choral and instrumental instruction as well as the school musical. This rubric is available in the counselors’ offices. Varsity letters and pins are awarded twice a year at the Christmas and spring concerts held at the RRCA.
In addition, the annual December poinsettia and spring flower sales not only provide financial support for the music program, but for graduating seniors as well. The Music Boosters award scholarships each year upon review of applications submitted. The 2016 senior recipients of the Music Boosters scholarships included Jenna Stahl, Allyson Bonanni, Richard White, and Sydney Brown.
The Boosters provide moral and emotional support throughout the year for the music staff and students, particularly through parent volunteerism in preparation for the musical in concessions, food preparation, costumes, and sets. Past productions include High School Musical, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat, The Pirates of Penzance, Bye- Bye Birdie, Beauty and the Beast, and Seussical.
Music Boosters meetings are open to all parents and are held on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:15, in the music room. If you would like to be added to our email list, contact email@example.com.
